shower recesses, bathrooms, laundries, balconies, decks, roofs and planterboxes.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
• Pre-mixed
• Highly flexible
• Requires no re-inforcing
• Light grey
• Easy to apply
• Internal and external application
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces must be firm, dry, sound and smooth. All grease, oil, wax, curing compounds, dust, plaster droppings, loose material,
paint and any other contaminants must be removed. Building boards must be fixed in accordance with the manufacturer’s
directions. Allow concrete to cure for 28 days and cement render for 7 days prior to the application of Dampfi x PU.
Priming: Generally surfaces do not require priming. In areas where the substrate is damp or water is likely to rise up below the
membrane, then ASA Dampfix Moisture Seal must be used prior to the application of Dampfix PU.
ASA Dampfix Moisture Seal is a 2 part water based epoxy which dries to form a waterproof barrier. Dampfix Moisture Seal
prevents rising damp and continual seepage, resists grease, oil, detergent and most mild chemicals. Ideal for retaining walls,
concrete tanks, lift wells and troughs. This product should be used as a primer before the application of Dampfix membranes.
ASA Dampfi x Moisture Seal comes in 4 litres,8 litres, 20 litres and 40 litres kits.
Crack Treatment: For static cracks greater than 1mm, clean thoroughly then fill with ASA Dampfix Seal ‘n’ Fillet. Allow to
dry. Dampfix Seal ‘n’ Fillet is a white, low modulus, polyurethane sealant which cures from moisture in the air to form a soft,
elastic and weatherproof sealant. ASA Dampfix Seal ‘n’ Fillet comes in 600ml (720 grams) sausages
APPLICATION
Sheet Joints: Apply a bead of ASA Dampfix Seal ‘n’ Fillet at all wall/floor joints, wall/wall joints, all sheet joints and fixings
and at any change of direction in the substrate.
The application of Dampfi x PU must comply with AS3740 2004 “Waterproofing of Internal Wet Areas in Residential Buildings”.
Dampfix PU can be applied with a brush or roller. Dampfix PU must be applied to achieve a dry fi lm thickness of 1.3mm for
optimum performance. To achieve the required dry film thickness of 1.3mm, apply the Dampfix PU at a rate of 0.75 litres/m2
per coat. Two coats are required. Allow a minimum of 24 hours between coats.
Note: Protection boards must be used to protect the membrane before back fi lling or concreting.
CLEAN UP
Clean tools and equipment with Bostik Handi-Clean Wipes while the membrane is still wet.
PACKAGING
15 litre metal pails.
TILING
Commence tiling after membrane has fully cured. It is recommended that the membrane be tiled, or a mortar bed applied
within 72 hours of membrane application since this eliminates surface contamination. If tiling is carried out after this time,
ensure that the surface is clean and dry.
RECOMMENDED TILE ADHESIVE
Internal Wall Applications
ASA Polyflex, ASA Megafix, ASA Conflex and ASA Asaflex
Internal Floors and External Applications:
Option 1: ASA Polyflex
Option 2: The membrane must be primed with ASA Multiprime – 2 Part water based epoxy. Prime at a rate of 6 to 8m2 per
litre, ensuring the membrane is fully covered. Tiling must commence within 4 days of application of Multiprime – 2 Part using
ASA Fixall mixed with undiluted ASA Megalastic, ASA Confl ex or ASA Asaflex. Refer to ASA Multiprime – 2 Part data
sheet for full application details.
CURING TIME
Approximately 24 hours at 25°C.
COVERAGE
1.5 litres will cover approximately 1m² at 1.3mm dry fi lm thickness.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
During application of Dampfix PU, avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear eye protection and gloves. Use in a well ventilated
area. If contact with skin occurs, wash affected area well. If contact with eyes occurs, flush eyes with copious quantities of
clean water for at least 15 minutes and contact a physician. It is advisable to use good occupational health and safety practices
to avoid personal contact. For more detailed information refer to product MSDS.
SHELF LIFE
Unopened pails can be stored for up to 12 months in a cool, dry and weatherproof environment.
LIMITATIONS
• Do not use as an exposed fi nish or top coat exterior membrane
• Do not apply if temperature is below 5°C
• Do not use as a vapour barrier
• Excessive water under the membrane will create bubbling.
