In 1967 TAULELL S.L. was born and so the great ceramic Project TAU began.

The province of Castellón is well-known for the quality of its clays and the ceramic tradition among its inhabitants. Historically, in this area the terracotta culture and the glaze pottery crafts have coexisted. In 1967, with all these traditional handicrafts as best teacher, Taulell S.A. started its activity in the outskirts of Castellón de la Plana, the capital city of the area.

Taulell was constituted as an Association of Companies during the 60s, an important decade for being halfway point of the last century and the time when our civilization acquired the techniques to achieve targets as impossible as the conquest of space.

The founding members were entrepreneurs from five companies with strong ties in the world of ceramics and a professional management team. The objective was to obtain ceramic biscuit necessary for the twice-fired production process, what used to be a prevailing method to produce glazed tiles. The company was born to be innovative and it used the first tunnel kilns to substitute the traditional Arab kiln.

The industrial development favoured high production figures of ceramic biscuit and it became Europe’s top producer.

In the 80s technological changes took place in ceramics worldwide; single-firing came up. Taulell’s shareholding turned into a limited liability Company run still nowadays by three important families with significant careers on the ceramics trade.

The company started to manufacture the final product, although biscuit ceramic national and international demands have been never left unattended.

In 1984 a new plant was built to produce single-fired stoneware flooring and our first big brand for glazed ceramic products arose with the name TAUGRES.

Ceramic coating was our next industrial challenge and our company opted for being in the vanguard with the single porous firing method. The factory started in 1988 and from that moment on we offered a complete supply of ceramic products, flooring and coating.

The growing process continued and our Porcelain Tiles arrived in 1994. The Company made a big investment and created the most technologically advanced plant in Spain. The decision was clear; our production had to incorporate a material that was bound to become a landmark in the history of ceramics.

We needed a logo-brand to cover all our products and Taugres turned into Tau Ceramic and therefore we opened a new and definitive stage in the definition of our trade-name and increased our production capacity, market and products.

Tau entered the 21st century with a powerful brand, a great workforce, cutting-edge facilities, global commercial networks and a highly innovative product.

HISTORY

Established in 1961, Rondine S.p.A. formed the main nucleus of a holding company. Subsequently other tile manufacturers such as Hilton, Fontana, Sassolgrande, and Bismantova merged in the group. In 1998, Rondine entered the worldwide market with three brands RHS, FONTANA BISMANTOVA and KERMONT, operating in three production plants. In 2005 it signed an agreement for its entry as majority holder in the share capital of Spray Dry, a company which has been operating in the raw materials sector for the ceramics industry for thirty years. This agreement constitutes a veritable strategic alliance for both parties, aiming, on the one hand, to achieve vertical integration upstream of the production process for Rondine, and on the other, to generate technical and production synergies between these two industrial concerns.
 

PLANTS

The Rondine Group has two plants for the production of high-tech, low environmental impact Porcelain Stoneware.
This extremely innovative and flexible system takes just 50 minutes to go from powder mixing to the finished product.
The speed of the production process makes it possible to check the results in real time and makes any necessary modifications quickly and effectively.
The entire cycle, including product palletisation, is completed in just 60 minutes.
In addition to quality and production performance, special attention is given to energy saving, workers’ safety, environmental impact, and other aspects.

Double-loading Porcelain Stoneware

Double-loading porcelain stoneware possesses all the technical qualities of stoneware, extending its possible applications thanks also to its excellent aesthetic qualities. The long working process, which is arranged in three primary phases (1 sq.m. per minute output from the press, compared to 4 sq. m. per minute from the traditional method), creates a material with superior technical qualities, which is compact and has signigicant resistance characteristics.

in the early ‘60s, Cerim was already producing white tile bodies, made by processing clays containing kaolin, and manufactured with cutting-edge production technologies. In the Eighties Cerim adopted the single-firing production process, further improved and extended through continuous investments in new plant starting in 1996.
Technology has always played a key role in Cerim’s progress, with a vast range of types of product combined with a rich assortment of colors, decorations and sizes.
Nowadays, Cerim has decided to work with interior designers and fashion stylists to create a coordinated image, in which the product’s stylistic inventiveness reflects the company’s target (young, contemporary and dynamic).
