AQUA MIX BRILLIANCETM is a polishing cream and cleaner that
nourishes and adds luster to polished stone countertops and
walls. Regular use helps protect factory polish.

USES:
SEALED polished natural stone (such as granite, limestone, marble,
and travertine) countertops, tabletops, and other non-traffic
polished surfaces. Effective for interior and exterior applications.

APPLICATION:
1) Read entire label before using.
2) Apply a small quantity onto the stone surface.
3) Using a soft cotton towel or cloth, rub into stone surface until
no residue is visible.
4) Reapply as needed or desired.

• High alkaline, solvent-based, or disinfectant cleaners will

APPLICATION:
1) Read entire label before using.
2) Allow newly grouted installation to cure a minimum of 10 days.
3) Sweep, vacuum or wipe surface to remove loose debris.
4) Pre-wet surface with water.
5) Spray Grout Colorant Pre-Treat Cleaner directly onto grout
joints in manageable area of approximately 5 to 6 sq. ft
(0.5 m to 1 m).
6) Allow to dwell 1 to 2 minutes
7) Scrub grout joints with nylon or natural-bristle scrub brush
or white nylon scrub pad. Do not allow solution to dry on
surface.
Mop up dirty solution.
9) Rinse thoroughly with clean water, agitating with white
nylon scrub pad or brush to ensure removal of cleaning
agents and acid.
10) Completely dry surface with clean, dry absorbent towels.
11) Allow a minimum of two hours drying time prior to applying
Aqua Mix Grout Colorant.
12) For preparing expoxy grout joints, use AquaMix Sealer &
Coating Remover

HEAVY SOIL BUILD-UP: Use full strength.

minutes when stripping waxes or finishes.
6) Agitate with synthetic mop, scrub brush, or scrub machine. Do

Aqua Mix 1 & 2 Deep Clean is an effective, highly concentrated,
high-alkaline, 2-part (1 part powder, 1 part liquid) industrial strength
cleaner and degreaser. Removes ground in dirt, grease, and soap
scum. Cost effective product for use in large commercial areas such
as restaurants, malls, and hotels. Also effective for quick and easy
removal of all types of waxes and synthetic floor finishes.

Natural stone (such as granite, limestone, marble, slate, and
travertine), ceramic, porcelain, grout, concrete, quarry, masonry
surfaces and other stone and tile.
TEST A SMALL AREA:

APPLICATION:
1) Read entire label before using.
2) Sweep, vacuum or wipe surface to remove loose debris.
3) Mix 1 & 2 Deep Clean as follows in a plastic container or bucket:
CLEANING AND STRIPPING: Mix 1/4 cup (30 g) powder to 2
1/2 gallons (9.5 L) water and mix well. Then add 1/4 cup (59
ml) liquid and mix thoroughly. HEAVY DUTY CLEANING AND
STRIPPING: Mix 1/2 cup (60 g) of powder to 2 1/2 gallons (9.5 L)
water and mix well. Then add 1/2 cup (118 ml) of liquid and mix
thoroughly. Note: Mixing solution with hot water is preferable,
however, cold water may be used.
4) Liberally apply cleaning solution with mop or sponge.
5) Allow to dwell for 15 to 20 minutes.
6) Agitate with a scrub brush or scrub machine. Do not allow
solution to dry on surface – apply additional solution if
necessary.
7) Mop up dirty solution or remove with a wet/dry vacuum.
Rinse with clean water.

Mosaic Arts International 2010 will feature 48 extraordinary works of mosaic art, in 2D, 3D, and Architectural categories. The MAI exhibition offers more prize money than any other international mosaic arts exhibition, with awards totaling $5000. We are proud to announce those award winners as:

We are proud the show will this year be at The Smith Museum of Stained Glass at Chicago’s Navy Pier, where the exhibition is expected to attract approximately 80,000 visitors during the two month run. This is a different kind of a venue for MAI; it is not one of the traditional white-walled gallery spaces that have showcased mosaic works in the past. This exhibition will feature our work placed throughout the museum, presented in lighted, glass-walled cases. Although it would be our preference for visitors to experience the texture, color, and play of light directly, the security and preservation of the work is paramount. We are very grateful to the Smith Museum of Stained Glass and the Navy Pier for the opportunity to present the work of our member artists to an audience of this scope. This exhibition is an important milestone in SAMA’s history that will underscore SAMA’s 10 year legacy of dedication to educating, inspiring, and promoting excellence in fine mosaic art.

Jurors for MAI 2010 included esteemed British mosaicist Oliver Budd, currently president of the British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM); Juan Chavez, a noted public artist and faculty member at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and Janet Kozachek, an Orangeburg, South Carolina artist and arts educator and a founding member and president of SAMA. Oliver Budd noted that he found the work to be of “consistently high quality” and was “really swayed by some of the fantastic abstract work.” Janet Kozachek also praised the field and reflected on the agonizing yet uplifting process of sorting through “so many incredible pieces of art.”

The jurors took great care in making their selections and the process went smoothly through our online jury contractor, Juried Arts Services. We would like to acknowledge their efforts in further advancing their technology to the needs of our process and the fairness of jurying artwork in the digital age. As a result of this technology, the MAI jurors were able to review the works multiple times via the internet from the comfort of their private environments, which spanned several thousand miles and the Atlantic Ocean. The work was scored using a point system and advanced through several rounds of scoring. The jurors cannot see artists’ statements or names; they can however retrieve size and material information for a piece if they choose. This blind-jury process, with the work being selected on merit alone, is fair and allows for the work to speak for itself. Jurors agree on the guidelines and requirements of eligibility that are on the prospectus and know that their selections are what they deem to be the most unique and exciting contemporary work in mosaics. It is indeed a difficult job and the jurors bring experience and understanding of art and mosaic, and a high level of excitement about the exhibition to the table. Every year a new pool of jurors contribute their unique aesthetics to the MAI show which keeps MAI a living, changing exhibition from year to year. We hope you make the trip to Chicago this spring to enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Michigan from Navy Pier, and more importantly the spectacular experience of viewing the exhibition in person.

TAU’s proposals for the 2010 Cevisama Trade Fair are completed with the floor tiles: Dessau, Gravel (micro-cement), Hammam (natural stone from the ancient Turkish baths) and the Hebra covering (textile finish available in three versions, Llovizna, Orvallo and Japan, whose finishes resemble rain drops on glass, to create a fresco effect).

In the framework of the 2010 Cevisama Trade Fair, TAU also wishes to emphasize its commitment to the environment by means of its TAU eco tile, the first ceramic tile models which include recycled materials in at least 45% of their content, which in some cases can represent up to 90% of its essence. All the TAU eco tile models have been officially certified by the Bureau Veritas firm.

Likewise, we feature the TAU fine series, a new concept in ultra-lightweight porcelain tile with large format which will revolutionise architectural design and home refurbishment. The ventilated façades are a building solution that is becoming more and more extended thanks to its high quality and aesthetical characteristics. It presents several advantages as for example thermal insulation and noise reduction.

The use of a second skin façade creates a protection against atmospheric agents, as the wind, the sun, the rain, the snow, etc. This results in less wear on the façade and lower maintenance costs.

Vives Azulejos y Gres presents as suitable for ventilated façades its big size porcelain ranges in 45×90, 60×90 and 60×120.

A ventilated façade is a wall covering system that incorporates a ventilated cavity between the covering and the insulation. It is considered the most efficient system for insulating buildings as it eliminates unwanted heat bridges and condensation problems, resulting in excellent thermal-hygrometric behaviour.

Components of the system:

- Vertical profile attached to the support by cantilever fastenings.
- Mechanical holding clips.
- Wall panels.

In order to offer solutions for ventilated façades, Vives Azulejos y Gres works in collaboration with Mecanofas, which is a company that has been dedicated to the commercialisation and assembly of ventilated façades for more than ten years. The manager of this company is Carlos Sanchís, the real pioneer in the introduction of the ventilated façades and the main responsible in the Karrat S-7 fastening system promotion. Carlos has also been awarded with the Alfa de Oro, which is a prize presented in the most important fair in the ceramic sector: Cevisama.

Ceramics has become one of the main options when creating a second skin façade. It provides the building with a sophisticated and elegant image contributing to create more elegant and distinguished urban spaces.

Vives Azulejos y Gres ranges include some series, which, thanks to its size and resistance to bad weather conditions, are suitable for this type of use. Some of the most suitable sizes are: 45 x 90, 60 x 90 and 60 x 120.

In size 45×90 we can find series as KENION, y CARONTE. Both of them are elegant and frost resistant porcelain tiles.

On the other hand, we have the porcelain series HIDRA y LOIRE. HIDRA and LOIRE in size 60×90. HIDRA series has a high PEI so this is a very resistant tile front abrasion and erosion, as well as frost and slip resistant. LOIRE series presents a look that simulates the stone looking. Finally, the CONDOR series in 60×120 is a frost resistant and rectified porcelain tile with an elegant finish.

VIVES – Is becoming more common the use of ceramic in ventilated façades?

Carlos Sanchís – After several years of effort, nowadays the ceramic ventilated façades have been consolidated.

VIVES – Are the advantages of using this material in ventilated façades well known?

C.S. – There are some independent works by companies from this sector that have made a comparison between ceramic as floor tile and other alternative materials such as marble, limestone, granite, etc. In façades the range is wider, including materials as prefabricated concrete, plywood sheets, aluminium panels, etc. Moreover, there are needed essays to check the resistance front atmospheric factors and ultraviolet rays.

VIVES – Which system or ceramic size would you use considering safety, economy, etc.?

C.S. – The most suitable size for the visible or hidden clip system is the 45×90. The 60×120 and the 60×90 are the most recommended for the back fastening system, even though a horizontal substructure is needed.

VIVES – How does the ventilated façade system contribute to a sustainable construction of both new and renovated buildings?

C.S. – In general, ventilated façades provide the building with an excellent resistance front humidity and temperature, independently of the used material. Moreover, the ceramic ventilated façades, thanks to its lightness, allows the renovation of existing buildings, giving them a modern and durable looking.

VIVES – Which innovations can be presented in a ceramic ventilated façade construction?

C.S. – The innovations in ventilated façades take two clearly defined ways. The first of them is the research and development of chemical fastening system, considering that nowadays the ceramic tiles are becoming thinner which makes difficult the use of a mechanical fastening system. On the other hand, the second line is based in the additional characteristics such as the photovoltaic integration, protection against electromagnetic waves, etc.

VIVES – Which are the main characteristics of your ventilated façades system?

C.S. – Our fastening systems are basically characterised by their safety and fast installation, as well as the wide range of systems that we offer, which are adaptable to different tile sizes and thickness in order to optimize costs.

VIVES – Which are the stages to follow in a ventilated façade project?

C.S. – Basically the redesigning, the installation of cantilever fastenings and fastening edges, the vertical profiles installation, the isolation, the installation of horizontal profiles, if they are needed, and finally, the collocation of the porcelain tile.

VIVES – Which determining factors do we have to consider in a ventilated façade performance?

C.S. – Usually, the ventilated façades are only tested front wind conditions, event though the ventilated façade is also subjected to horizontal efforts, due to the wind, and to vertical efforts, due to its own weight. Regarding buildings, we have to add three factors: to study the state of the supports where we will fix the cantilever fastenings; to verify the overweight that is going to be added to the building, in the case of renovations; and finally, to confirm the forged edges setback. These forged edges project around 10 cm. from the façade. If the building does not have these setbacks, the forged edges will project more than the legal limits.

VIVES – How does DIT contribute to the collocation of a ventilated façade system?

Basically, safety. There are two kind of organisms that certify its proficiency in a building system, these are Instituto de Construcción Eduardo Torroja and Instituto de Tecnología de Cataluña (ITEC). The first of them certifies by way of the DIT: Technical Suitability Document, and the second through the DAU: Use Adequacy Document. Obtaining these documents is voluntary and what it is described on them is that the system itself will fulfil properly the requirements if it is applied according to the document. The lack of normative in this field is the reason why these documents exist. In case there was a normative, we should apply it and these documents would not have any validity.

Andreé Putman – a French design icon – continues to amaze after decades with worldwide interior design and breathtaking decoration.

The Zenith and Correspondances tables, designed by Putman, reveal their classic identity through a contemporary look.

A light source, coming from the gold mosaic, is the element of seduction in Zenith, the round table produced in corian and proposed in two color versions: white corian with yellow gold mosaic and grey corian with white gold mosaic.

For Correspondances, the lacquered wooden writing desk available in four color versions, the predominant decorative motif is alternating mosaic tiles, each model featuring two contrasting colors: black and white, blue and white, black and grey, each with a single gold tile “set” into the surface. The original arrangement of two overlapping surfaces gives movement and versatility to this item of furniture.

La Maison Guerlain, Paris

La Maison Guerlain, located in Paris, is listed among the most luxurious, wonderful creations in the world.  Opened in 1939 at 68 avenue des Champs-Elysées, above the store, the Beauty Institute was redecorated in 2005 by Andrée Putman and Maxime d’Angeac.

The first floor was conceived as the heart of the place:  a spectacular, luxurious temple dedicated to beauty with walls, ceiling and floors all covered in shimmering Bisazza 24kt gold mosaic tiles.

Work has started on the new terminal at Delhi International Airport.

Kerakoll Group, a world leader in products and services for sustainable building, historical restoration and interior design, increases its international presence and arrives in India, with the inauguration of three new logistics centres, directed by Hemant K. Jain, a local manager with considerable experience in the sector.

The main headquarters in Mumbai, with offices and warehouses giving a total area of over 1,000 m2, is backed by an additional logistics centre at Bangalore and by a further distribution centre in Salem, giving the Group a widespread presence within the territory so as to guarantee quality in terms of delivery times and technical assistance.

The Indian sales network, which has a workforce of 45, is estimated to produce an annual turnover of approximately 5 million Euros when fully operational, thanks to the high potential of the local market.

The building sector in India has seen considerable growth over recent years, following heavy investment in residential building (which represents over 74% of the market), together with non-residential building and public expenditure in infrastructure.

The lack of housing, the need for the redevelopment of a large part of existing buildings, the lack of infrastructure and the need for commercial and industrial premises are the main factors behind this development in the building and infrastructure sector in India.

In particular, according to the estimates drawn up by the National Building Association, by 2021 it is calculated that there will be a need for 77 million residential housing units in urban areas, and over 63 million in country areas.

With reference to non-residential development, in the eight main cities the demand for office space has risen from 3.5 million sq ft in 1998 to 16 million sq ft in 2004, and reached 85 million sq ft in 2008. The demand is mainly concentrated in the so-called Central Business Districts of Mumbai and Delhi, although there is also considerable growth in other cities such as Bangalore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata.

Likewise there is great interest in infrastructure and large projects, with an expected investment of 500 billion dollars over the next five years in energy, ports, roads, underground rail networks, and goods transport by rail.

It is in this context that Kerakoll has become involved in the construction of the new Terminal 3 at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, managed by GMR, one of the most important infrastructure companies in the Country, through the joint venture DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited), which has been set up to extend the airport itself and run it for 30 years, and has assigned planning to HOK, an organisation that operates in 24 countries with a staff of over 2,000.

The plan is to bring the airport’s handling capacity from the current 20 million up to 60 million passengers per year, also creating a new runway, and the main operation is the construction of a new 250,000 m2 Terminal, which alone will be capable of handling 34 million passengers per year and 55 aircraft.

Completion of the work, which has just started, is expected to take place on 31st March 2010, just in time for the Commonwealth Games, which are to be held the following October, for the first time in India and for the second time in Asia.

The idea behind the plans for Terminal 3 is to create an environment with muted colours that is mainly illuminated by natural light. The arrivals area in particular has been designed to give a truly memorable welcome to India.

Great attention has been given to the flooring. The material selected is natural stone, which will give the feel required for the project: approximately 100,000 m2 will be made of granite from Barhain, Saudi Bianco, with inserts in Indian Kashmiri Gold and GB4 granites, all in 80×80 cm slabs.

To carry out the work, the Kerakoll India team supported GMR’s planners by means of site and laboratory tests so as to recommend the best possible laying cycle; a number of tests were also carried out in the Kerakoll research and development centre to evaluate the behaviour of the local stones and sand, adhesion to the stones, the bearing characteristics and resistances of the screed and finally the performance of the entire system when laid.

Today, over 40% of the turnover for the Kerakoll Group is produced abroad, and this international role is destined to increase further still: the recent opening of commercial branches in Sweden, Portugal, Croatia and Hungary has brought the number of Countries in which the Group is present up to 15: in Spain, Poland and Greece the Group already boasts a direct presence with manufacturing plants, while in the remaining Countries the commercial presence is achieved through local partnerships or trading companies.

The international dimension of the company also emerges in the makeup of our management team. On the world markets the majority of managers are selected locally: at the head of the branches in USA, Singapore, Great Britain, Portugal, Sweden and Hungary there are managers from those specific geographical areas.

W HOTEL – Hong Kong

Where skyscrapers and a giant Buddha graze the blue sky, the W sign dazzles amid Kowloon’s urban neon. W Hong Kong sits among modern splendor, oriental markets and colonial cool.

The swimming pool at W Hong Kong boasts indulgences like no other. Looking out over the beautiful island, the iconic pool features an incredible and intricate giant-scale mosaic of a butterfly graphic, designed and created by Australian graphic designer Fabio Ongarato.

Wet, the nature-inspired oasis located in the heart of the city, boasts the mural with butterflies designed in Bisazza glass tile that appear to flit across the walls and ceiling, adding even further glamour to this fabulous pool with a view.

Wet is located at the top of the W Hong Kong skyscraper, on the 76th storey. At 211m high, it is the highest swimming pool in the city.

HOTEL ALEPH – ROME

The Aleph Hotel, from the famous Boscolo Hotels chain, is a project by the architect Adam Tihany, located in Rome. Immediately upon entering the Aleph, you will be caught up in delicious sensations, striking contrasts, stunning details and sensual luxury. With stunning red Bisazza mosaic utilized in bathroom design and a gorgeous deep blue featured in spa decoration, the collaboration between the luxury tile and grand hotel is flawless.

HOTEL BARCELO’ – MALAGA

Located in the new AVE train station in the heart of Málaga in southern Spain, the Hotel Barcelo, is well-known for its avant-garde B Lounge, a new lobby concept designed in 2008 by Jordi Torres, an inventive Catalan designer.

Bisazza mosaic was used to clad the floors and the walls of the innovative B Lounge, enriching the charm and enhancing the modern space. The space is characterized by sinuous elements and a play of lights that create a surrealistic atmosphere.
